APRS

Up

APRS was developed by Bob Bruninga, WB4APR, for tracking and digital communications with mobile GPS equipped stations with two-way radio. In the 9 years since its introduction, it has grown to encompass just about every aspect of Amateur Radio.

APRS Social Event

On Saturday morning, November 14, 1998, Bob Bruninga WA4APR, met with 8 more  APRSers for brunch in Palo Alto that lasted from 10AM to 2PM!

What a wonderful brainstorming session that was! So many ideas flying around! Bob brought a lot of small equipment items with him (new Kenwood APRS HT, GPS, Libretto computer, hand-held 440 beam, Kenwood VC-H1 "Visual Communicator" and his white helmet that all the gear fits onto) and talked about all the things the new APRS equipment could do  We even caught a PacSat pass from the parking lot with the new Kenwood TH D7A "Data Communicator" HT. We bounced ideas off him and learned a lot! There were some excellent ideas and suggestions around that brunch table and Bob took lots of notes.
