Darrel was my first 2nd father.  He spent countless hours explaining electronic theory to me when I was 11 and 12 years old.  From Darrel's lessons I became a ham radio operator and started a 17 year career in broadcasting.  He also taught me about photography and how to work around a photographic darkroom.  Thanks for everything Darrel.   

Darrel served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Queenfish in the early 1950s.  During July 2003, he showed his family the insides of the type of submarine he served on while on vacation in San Francisco.
