Larry Powers was Mom's older brother.  During W.W. II he was a colonel in the Army stationed in Washington D.C.  He met his wife Eloise Palmer while they were both students at the University of Maryland.  Both being from Maryland, they lived in the Washington suburb of Bethesda while Larry worked for the Government Accounting Office where he became the Assistant to the Comptroller General in 1958. During my first ten years, my family also lived in Bethesda and spent birthdays and holidays with Larry, Eloise and their daughter Joann.
