The Homestake MIS Team included two great folks at the original Homestake Mine in Lead, South Dakota.  Kris Ruff handled Oracle applications, the Cyborg Payroll System and RS/6000 administration.  Karl Rische was the Network Manager and handled desktop support which is pretty challenging when some of the computers are 7000 feet underground operating at high temperatures.

After the Homestake office in Walnut Creek closed, I had a chance to go back to Lead and take my good friends to dinner at our favorite restaurant in Spearfish, SD after a large fire in July 2002 that nearly burned down the administration building where the computers and servers are.
