Steve Broomell

Up
Steve's Magic Tree

From 1964 to 1966, I signed on KATI, (1400 on your dial in Casper, Wyoming) at 5:00 am in the morning, (every day except Sunday when it was 6:50 am.)  Usually there to greet me was the Chief Engineer, Steve Broomell who had been at the station all night working on his engineering projects while the station was off the air.  During our many discussions Steve taught me about electronic theory and ham radio.  When I took my General Class license in June of 1966, it was Steve who was the most responsible for the success.

Steve worked at the National Center of Atmospheric Research, (NCAR) in Boulder as well as other radio stations before coming to Casper as on-air personality "Steve Harris".  Steve's original ham call sign was W0PGN and was changed to W7ENE after he moved to Casper.  Steve passed away in 1991 and I always wanted to thank him for all his contributions to my career in broadcasting.
